On August 10th, 2023, the Pastor of Immanuel Church, JC Rico, took to the stage of our Back-To-School Town Hall to make a very important announcement on behalf of himself the ICS School Board.
As of August 10th, Rachel Frecka is the new Head of School of Immanuel Christian School.
Watch the announcement here:
“Last year was a challenge for everybody, but I really feel like this summer God has given the Leadership Team a lot of vision for the future…We really feel like God has given us a clear plan for the direction of the school and what needs to happen…God is bringing us [church and school] together as one community and one body, for something special He wants to do this year.”
Rachel Frecka joined ICS as secondary principal in the 2022-23 school year. Until that point she had served as Headmaster of Hinkson Christian Academy in Moscow, Russia, an ACSI Member school.
“I’m excited. It’s a big job, but we have an amazing team and I know that I am not doing this on my own. It’s and honor and a privilege to be able to be a part of the community. I really appreciate the support and enthusiasm I have received from parents and staff, and I look forward to what we can do together.”
Frecka has a degree in Business and Economics from Wheaton College and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Colorado Christian University. Rachel and her husband, Andy, spent more than 20 years serving with Youth With A Mission in Russia, before she entered the educational field.
“I know they [ICS School Board] had a lot of amazing applicants from both El Paso and out-of-town, and so, for me, it’s an incredible honor that they asked me to take the job.”
When asked about the message she wants to convey to ICS and its Families, Rachel said, “I would just ask that we go into this year arm in arm, ready to work together to make this school what it needs to be. We have a lot of plans for school improvement, for our school culture and academics. It really is going to take everybody doing their part, including our parents. We really want them to be involved. We want them to feel welcome in this school, to provide input, to come in and volunteer and to help fill in the gaps, because we’re in this together. I really invite the entire community to get behind what we are doing and to participate and I think if we do that God is going to do amazing things through us.”
